A is for Ant

Recently we've decided to home school Brie during her preschool and elementary years and today we embarked on that journey. While I'm sure we'll have many challenging days ahead, today was nothing but joy. I'm using a Letter of the Week curriculum that focuses on teaching your preschooler letters, numbers and basic math skills through literature, arts & crafts, music and play.

Obviously, today being the first week of school our letter is A.

We read The Ant's Go Marching which seemed very fitting since Brieto found herself with fire ants in her pants (swimsuit to be exact) this weekend. After we painted an Ant Scene, Brie wanted to continue painting on the easel.

More than once she mentioned, "This is like art class, I like school". In fact she liked school so much she was eager to count, sort and build in the block center.

Where was Briar in all this, peacefully sleeping like the good baby she is.

Two and half hours of pure preschool bliss.

Sweets From My Sweets

This year's birthday can be summed up in one word: delectable.

My Birthday was filled with many sweet treats, starting with my friend Emily splurging on these Cupcake Couture masterpieces. They were beyond yummy and I know since I sampled everyone of them.

Next came a Tuscon Pesto Chicken sandwich from Cozi's, another Emily treat. Which I was happy to share with my sweet Baby Briar.

After lunch I was more than excited to make some celebratory cookies with the help of my new William-Sonoma Cookie Cutters from our Sweet Aunt Ginny.

Doesn't this dough look so appetizing? It was and I should know since I sampled a ton of it.

And nothing could be sweeter than sharing all my delectable goodness with my sweet Brie (which is also yummy on a pita cracker).

To top off all my editable sweetness, my friend gave me a gift certificate to Scrap Orchard. A website filled with digital eye candy...I don't know where to begin my shopping spree!

Of course you're all dying to know what my "Gift Giving Husband" (insert sarcastic overtone here) got me? All I'm going to say for now is it's "Only Natural" and I love it.

Thank you to all my family and friends for making today delectable...from food, to candles, to jewelry, to gift cards, to "Ikea Cash" this years Birthday was very filling!

IKEA Fun--Take One

This weekend I made a trip to IKEA and had a FABULOUS time, yet again. While I'm not ready to show you the GORGEOUS things I bought for the living room, I am ready to show you all the fun stuff I purchased for the play room.

We moved the couch out to make more room for play.
This magnetic board is at the perfect height for letter and number fun.

Creativity is now made easy with a pint size table and chairs.

Finally a view of the learning side of the room complete with art easel, craft table and lots and lots of books (which of course are out of view).

I really am quiet found of our playroom, it's such a great space for the girls. Now if I could only convince Rob to let me paint the paneling, then it would be perfect. I convonced him to let me put holes in the wall (unevenly, opps), so... I think I have hope.

Family Sentenced

Robert passed Actuary Exam 5 and is wasting no time in studying for Exam 6.

Brieto is consistently going pee-pee on the potty, she will poo on the potty someday, right?

Briar received her first haircut...by her sister...with an electric razor...under the supervision of her daddy.

Jessica is stealing the idea of a "Family Sentence Blog" from her friend Teacher Person, because she lacks any creativity do to her obsession in creating Brie's preschool lesson plans.
