Happy Father's Day

We had quite an eventful Father's Day Weekend, one that I'm happy to share with everyone.

Robert took Friday off work, while I would love to say it was so we could celebrate his awesomeness as a dad, sadly it was not. Instead it was so I could have a nose job. No, not rhinoplasty surgery, but septoplasty surgery. The surgery went well, and thankfully it did not come with the baby I feared I had delivered when waking from general anesthesia. The jury is still out on whether the surgery fixed my singing abilities, but it sure did improve my taste buds.

Saturday was a day to veg, I needed to have recovered enough to make it to Briar's Baby Dedication on Sunday morning. Recover I did, but in true second child form, I forgot my camera, err and a bottle. None the less it was a joy to dedicate Briar to be raised in the fear and adoration of the Lord.

Our Father's Day was wrapped up with a few naps.

Loads of cuteness.

And one special present.

Brie painted this cavas at Paint Paper Scissors for her awesome daddy.

Treats

I'm in a treat kind of mood, first sprinkles, now Mum-Mum's.

These "Rice Rusks" don't look any more appealing than their name emplies, but they are a gluten-free alternative to a Gerber Bitter Biscuit.

What's the verdict?

Mum-Mum!

I too wanted something special this week, so I treated myself to some spring flowers.

What treats have you received lately?

My friend Emily recently introduced me to sprinkles. No not the cupcake shop in California, but regular quins. Sure I knew what sprinkles were, but not the way she used them.

Instead of topping her cupcakes with these adorable sugar specks, she pours them in her kiddos yogurt, pudding and applesauce after meals. I thought it was a great idea, especially since I love sprinkles but never make cupcakes.

Brie thinks it's a great idea too.

Now I'm on the hunt for super cute, super cool sprinkle.

Block Party 2009

The Body works, that's for sure. On Saturday UBC had our third annual Block Party, a free event on campus for the community. Thanks to the help of over 100 workers we pulled off an amazing evening, filled with free food and fun. Mad props go out to Emily Nicolaou, Melissa Deming, Franke Corte, The McGuyers and of course Michael Peeler for all the behind the scenes work they did. A big thanks goes to everyone else who worked through the Texas heat (95 degrees) with a smile to bring UBC to the community, awesome work guys. A special thanks goes to the leadership at UBC, the best Pastoral staff ever, for recognizing the need to be a light in our dark city.

I considered it all joy to be a part of the Block Party. It's an amazing opportunity to help UBC bring glory to God. I look forward to coordinating many more Block Party's in the future!

Now onto what you all have been waiting for pictures!

The "Have and Has" of the Dohner Ladies

I have decided to live my life, therefore we have no longer are quarintined to our house. I have found incredible peace in James 1. I have been super busy taking care of last minute details for the UBC Block Party, I'm coordinating again this year. I have found a new park to love; McCallister's. I have found the mother load of free digital scrapbook kits and have been frantically downloading them. I have enjoyed Robert reading The Forsyte Saga (my favorite book) outloud. And finally, I have received the worst haircut ever.

As for Brie--Brie has finally allowed someone to cut her hair, now we're twins (ugh). Brie has answered the telephone on occasion only to tell the call, "I get hair cut, it pretty and get candy". Brie has a new found love for Elmo. Brie has taken that love to the extreme, she will only wear her Elmo jammies at home. Brie has the same love for McCallister park. Brie has a passion for books and you will find her reading in the corner for minutes at a time. Brie has had her first friend stay the night, while her mommy had a baby boy. And, Brie has learned the meaning of annoying--little sister Briar.

Now on to Briar--Briar has mastered crawling. Briar has a inane love for cords. Briar has been cleared of her rice, barley or oats sensitivities (we're still holding out for wheat). Briar has mastered the art of sleeping. Briar has the biggest blue eyes, ever. Briar has been voted worlds best baby; therefore no need to continue with her "has's"
